The biggest obstacle between us and our dreams (even the little wishes) is our apparent lack of time. Jackson Brown put all our arguments on ‘not having enough time’ to rest when he said this, “Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.” I am sure we still don’t always agree that we have enough time.
Time flies by way too quickly. So the thought of having a whole extra day, a whole 24 hours is extremely exciting! Don’t let the 29th of February pass as if it was just another day.
Imagine the possibilities a whole extra day can bring. Remember all those things you said you’d do if you had more time. Well, here’s more time – 24 Extra Hours! And we urge you to not let it go by as just another day, but make it special. Do Make The Most of The Extra Day!
If coming once in 4 years wasn’t special enough, here are some cool facts about leap day that prove just that. Plus it’s great trivia to rattle off to your ignorant friends.
Leap Day is Superman’s Birthday!
Doesn’t this make leap day a super day already? Superman first appeared in ACTION COMICS #1 in 1938. It was the popularity of Superman that launched the superheroes in comic books. If not for Superman we would not be enjoying comics or the movies today. That’s more than enough reason to celebrate Leap Day, Right?
Leap Day is the only day Shes could propose to Hes!
You have probably heard of this before and yeah, this strange Irish tradition seems to be true. Irish women could propose to men on leap day and if the menn declined they could be fined with anything ranging from a kiss to payment for a silk dress. No harm in taking a chance then! In fact, if you’re a woman waiting to hear the big question today, this leap day is the perfect chance to take matters in your own hands and bend on one knee 🙂
Leap Day is a gift from Julius Ceaser
Technically, we should thank Earth. Leap day is added to the calendar in leap years as a corrective measure, because the Earth does not orbit around the sun in precisely 365 days. Now accomodating the extra spin that Earth takes wasn’t easy and Julius Ceaser sort of nailed it. Now, there is a lot of geography and math to what and how he did this and I would rather you watch this video to fully understand the complexities. Thank you, Ceaser!
Anthony in Texas is the Leap Year Capital Of The World
What does that even mean, right? This is most interesting because the status of ‘Leap Year Capital of the World’ was given to this small town in Texas because of two local residents of Anthony. This couple, both leaplings (leaplings = people born on leap year) thought it would be a good idea to have a Leap Day Festival and a Leap Day Birthday Club in the city. In a matter of years, it got popular and now people from all over the world flock to Anthony to join the Leap Day Carnivals.
5 million people celebrate their birthday on Leap Day!
If you are one of these Leaplings, Happy Birthday! You are not alone 🙂 For the rest, if you’re still not convinced that you should make this special. At least, eat cake, it’s 5 million people’s birthday 😉
Hop-on here for some ideas on what you can do and do tell us what you did 🙂 Happy Leap Day!
