Great hearing your road trip stories! How easy is it to take a road trip for someone who's new to India? Keeping in mind traffic rules..
On Saturday had a road trip to Pune from Mumbai...on Pune -Mumbai expressway,...lonavala,khandala...enjoyed car drive
@Pankaj Glad I could help :D
@VaisakhiMishra I did the road trip and it was magnificent! Just had a week but there couldn't have been a better way to ring in a new year. Drove through the coast and surprisingly Goa was not such a highlight! Some other tiny beaches along the way stunned me. Thank you!
@VaisakhiMishra - Thank yous so much! This is very useful, really appreciate. I think I will take the coastal route as well. But it's good to know that there are many options to detour even if one takes the madurai route!
@Pankaj M - Hi! though I haven't done a road trip from Mumbai to Trivandrum I know a friend who had done it 6 years back. There are 2 ways Bombay-Bangalore-Madurai-Trivandrum (Mostly highway and old towns) or BOmbay-Goa-Gokarna-Mangalore-Kerala(Semi Coastal). If you take the highway path, try and visit Hampi, Madurai, Salem and Kancheepuram which are small detours on that road otherwise the semi coastal track has amazing stop points is scenic almost throughout the journey. He had taken the semi coastal path and had halted at Mangalore Goa Gokarna and Bangalore due to which the trip took him 13 days on bike. But the timeline totally depends an how much halt you want to take. Also the roads get pretty bad in certain patches and the highway past Mangalore has some serious harking issues right till Trivandrum....Hope this helps. :)
Hello, I am planning a road trip (self drive) with some friends from Mumbai to Trivandrum. Any tips? How many days should we factor for a comfortable drive? Any mandatory stops that we should not miss?
I plan to go on a road trip between 10th Nov to 15th Nov 2015 covering Ahmedabad to neighboring place(s).

While the Garhwal and Kumaon region in Uttarkhand are regarded as the best locations for a water adventure, Coorg, Manali, Sikkim, Zanskar and Rishikesh have become increasingly popular over the years.
Next time you’re seized by this overpowering desire to ski don’t bother checking flight prices to Switzerland. Heli Ski is a local alternative where you are lifted to pristine new icy heights by helicopter and left to criss cross your way down.
Auli in Uttarakhand and Gulmarg in Kashmir offer one of the largest facilities for this adventure winter sport.
Every one of us must have flown a kite at some point in life; but, how many of us can say that we’ve flown one while standing on top of a wave? Kiteboarding is essentially surfing with a board and a kite and is the newest rage. Quest-Asia near Madurai was the first Kiteboarding School in India. In Goa (Morjim beach) one can get in touch with the Goa Kite Surfing School. The Mandwa beach in Maharashtra also has a Kite Boarding School.
